The Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County, in partnership with the Kuchma Corporation and Spinnaker Real Estate Partners is pleased to announce "Creative Spaces for the Creative Economy", a one-day "Space Summit" organized in response to calls for action to bring unused or underused space into more productive use for individual artists, cultural nonprofits.
What are the positive experiences, remaining challenges and possible solutions to the many unresolved living, working, making, selling, performing, and exhibiting space issues and needs within our arts and culture community?
PanelsThe guiding principles of the day will be those of Creativity, Affordability, and Sustainabity in our community's search for spaces in which to live, work, show and perform our work. Panel sessions include: Temporary Transformations of Commercial Space; From Spaces to Places: Connecting to Community; Sharing Spaces & Services; and Incentives to Release Commercial Space for Cultural Use.
A special feature will be a demonstration of SpaceFinder, an online database developed by FracturedAtlas that brings those with space and those looking for space together, and which will be coming to Connecticut soon, courtesy of the Connecticut Office of the Arts.
SpeakersA wide range of speakers will include artists, developers, gallery directors, business owners, economic development officers, and representatives from foundations, nonprofits and corporations. Confirmed speakers to date include:
